Head of Asset Value Management (Heat UK) - 12-Month Contract (Hybrid) Location: Bristol (preferred) | London | Edinburgh Working pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office A senior interim opportunity for a commercially focused leader to protect and enhance asset value across a UK heat/district heating portfolio.

You will act as a trusted adviser to the CFO, translating operational, commercial and technical performance into clear financial insight and decision support.

The role provides governance, assurance and prioritisation across customer operations, commodity sourcing, billing/revenue assurance and AVM data/IT change.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop asset value strategies and coordinate delivery with regional/functional owners
  • Establish performance monitoring, assurance and reporting frameworks to drive gross margin and operational improvement
  • Lead commodity sourcing strategy, commercial analysis and governance with Finance/Procurement and operational stakeholders
  • Provide investment planning support (gross margin assumptions, value assurance, commercial challenge, portfolio valuation inputs)
  • Oversee end-to-end metering, billing, customer data quality and revenue reconciliation, including management of external contractor(s)
  • Set governance and performance standards across metering/billing/revenue assurance processes and hold stakeholders to account
  • Own AVM business requirements and roadmap for asset data, BI/reporting and analytics; oversee delivery with IT service providers
  • Lead/assure IT transition activity (incl.

Skills & experience required

  • 10+ years' experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure or other asset-intensive operational environments
  • Strong commercial capability: asset value drivers, gross margin performance, commodity exposure, revenue assurance and operational risk
  • Senior stakeholder management (CFO/SLT level) with proven ability to provide insight, challenge and decision support
  • Experience improving metering/billing/reconciliation and customer data quality processes (incl. Contractor governance)
  • Strong data/analytics mindset and experience using data to generate business insight and improve performance
  • Leadership experience (line management + cross-functional delivery) and ability to influence internal/external partners
  • Engineering background; Master's in Engineering (or equivalent) preferred; district heating knowledge advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English)
