Salary: £60,000-£66,000 plus benefits package
Summary: We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead a large-scale operation within a fast-paced logistics environment. This is a high-impact role for a strong people leader who can manage complexity, drive operational performance, and deliver sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will have experience managing 100+ people and will be comfortable operating across both manual and automated environments. You will take overall responsibility for operational performance, people, customer service, compliance, and commercial delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who leads from the front, builds strong relationships, and is passionate about developing people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop a workforce of 100+ employees and take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and site performance
- Manage warehouse and transport operations
- Drive operational performance through effective KPI management and continuous improvement
- Ensure the operation consistently delivers agreed service, quality, productivity, and safety standards
- Manage operational budgets, costs, and commercial performance
- Develop and coach managers and operational teams to create a high-performance culture
- Ensure full compliance with transport, Health & Safety, and company requirements
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Lead operational change and implement best practice across the business
Key Skills/Experience
- Proven experience operating at General Manager level within logistics, transport, warehousing, or a similar environment
- Current CPC qualification is essential
- Proven experience managing 100+ employees
- Experience working across both manual and automated operations
- Strong understanding of transport and warehouse operations
- Excellent people leadership and development skills
- A natural leader who can engage, motivate, and influence at all levels
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and operational costs
- Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement and operational change
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Hands-on, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
