The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to support a prestigious Private Hospital in the South West of England.

This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract within a modern and well-equipped private healthcare environment. It is ideally suited to experienced Consultant Anaesthetists who are confident delivering high-quality perioperative care across a range of elective surgical specialties and are committed to providing an exceptional patient experience.

You will work alongside leading consultants, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams, playing a key role in the safe delivery of anaesthetic services while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide consultant-level anaesthetic care across a range of elective surgical specialties
• Undertake pre-operative assessments and develop appropriate anaesthetic management plans
• Deliver safe and effective anaesthesia throughout the perioperative pathway
• Monitor and manage patients during surgery and throughout the immediate post-operative period
• Work closely with surgeons, theatre staff, recovery teams, and other healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care
• Manage complex cases and provide expert clinical decision-making where required
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and regulatory standards
• Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development projects
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical records
• Provide support, teaching, and mentorship to junior medical colleagues where appropriate
• Contribute to maintaining a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent qualification (CESR)
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia (or eligibility)
• Significant UK experience working at Consultant level within Anaesthetics
• Experience working across a range of elective surgical specialties
• Excellent clinical, organisational, and communication skills
• Strong commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Valid Right to Work in the UK
