General Manager

We’re recruiting for an experienced General Manager to take overall operational responsibility for a busy site.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can lead people, drive performance and maintain high standards across a fast-paced operation. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, people, compliance, customer service and commercial performance, working closely with senior leadership and functional teams.

The Role

• Lead the day-to-day operation, ensuring safety, service, productivity and performance targets are achieved.
• Manage and develop managers and operational teams, creating a positive and accountable culture.
• Oversee warehouse, transport, customer service, administration, facilities and stock operations.
• Drive cost control, efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety, compliance and operational discipline.
• Work closely with HR on recruitment, absence, performance and employee relations.
• Partner with commercial and finance teams to support customer satisfaction and profitability.
• Lead operational change and identify opportunities to improve processes and performance.
• Represent the operation within the wider business.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in General Management, Operations Management or Site Management.
• Experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment such as FMCG, logistics, wholesale, food service or a similar sector.
• Strong people leadership and communication skills.
• Commercially aware, with experience managing costs and improving efficiency.
• Confident, practical and solutions-focused decision-maker.
• Strong understanding of health & safety, compliance and operational standards.
• Experience managing performance, absence, conduct and organisational change.
