Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing?

A specialist school in Kidlington is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, or Teachers who want to build valuable, hands-on experience supporting young people with a range of mental health and emotional needs.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students experiencing emotional, social, or mental health challenges.
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, helping them feel safe, understood, and supported.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
  • Observe and monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour, engagement, and progress throughout the school day.

We're looking for a Mental Health Assistant who is:

  • Compassionate, patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
  • A confident communicator with a genuine interest in mental health and wellbeing.
  • Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, therapy, education, or mental health.
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
