Technical Project Manager

Talent is looking for a Technical Project Manager

Job description

Technical Project Manager – Digital Platform Modernisation

6–12 Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Nottingham or London | 2–3 Days Onsite per Week

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the technical delivery plan for a major web-based platform modernisation programme.

This is not a hands-on engineering role. You’ll sit between architecture, technical SMEs, delivery teams and external partners, translating architectural direction into a clear, sequenced delivery roadmap and managing the dependencies required to keep delivery moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the technical delivery plan across data, backend, integrations and UI/UX.
  • Translate HLD/LLD into epics and directional tickets, ensuring work is ready to flow into squad backlogs.
  • Identify and manage complex cross-team dependencies, risks and blockers.
  • Coordinate architects, technical SMEs, BAs, development squads and external delivery partners.
  • Facilitate technical workshops to resolve issues, align priorities and drive decisions.
  • Work closely with the Programme Lead to align technical delivery with SAFe/PI planning and agile delivery.
  • Manage RAID, milestones and technical delivery reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure external delivery partner plans and outputs integrate effectively with internal teams.

Essential Experience

  • Strong track record delivering complex, multi-team technical transformation programmes.
  • Experience with platform modernisation, re-architecture or large-scale digital transformation.
  • Strong understanding of HLD/LLD → Epic → Story delivery.
  • Excellent dependency management, sequencing and RAID management skills.
  • Experience coordinating data, backend, integration and front-end/UI workstreams.
  • Experience managing third-party delivery partners/vendors alongside internal teams.
  • Strong Agile experience; SAFe or other scaled Agile environments highly desirable.
  • Confident working with architects and technical SMEs without needing to be the technical authority.

Desirable: Healthcare/regulated-sector experience, data platform migrations, UI/UX transformation and SAFe/PMP certification.
