Job Purpose

To oversee commercial office interior projects from concept to handover. This role uses design expertise to refine space plans, resolve technical details, manage external consultants, and ensure the final physical workspace perfectly matches the approved creative vision.



Key Responsibilities


Design Ownership & Technical Delivery

  • Translate creative concepts into coordinated, construction-ready packages.
  • Review technical drawings for accuracy, buildability, and spatial flow.
  • Detail complex interior elements like bespoke joinery and feature ceilings.
  • Integrate building services (M&E, acoustics, lighting) into the design.
  • Manage statutory approvals including building regulations and landlord consents.


Project & Consultant Coordination

  • Lead design workshops with clients, architects, and engineers.
  • Manage design programs to match strict procurement and build schedules.
  • Control drawing revisions and manage document distribution platforms.
  • Evaluate consultant performance to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Resolve structural clashes before materials are ordered or built.


Commercial & Site Support

  • Protect design intent during value engineering and budget reviews.
  • Source alternative materials that save costs without losing aesthetic value.
  • Answer site RFIs (Requests for Information) to prevent construction delays.
  • Inspect on-site quality to ensure finishes meet the design specification.
  • Approve sub-contractor shop drawings for specialized interior trades.



Required Skills & Competencies

  • Design Literacy: Strong eye for commercial interior aesthetics, finishes, ergonomics, and modern workplace trends.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of partitioning systems, commercial flooring, acoustics, and interior regulations.
  • Software Skills: High proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar industry design tools.
  • Communication: Ability to pitch design solutions to clients and explain technical details clearly to site teams.
  • Organization: Excellent tracking of design changes, variations, and drawing schedules under tight deadlines.



Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a closely related design discipline.
  • Experience: Proven track record working on commercial office interiors, workplace design, or Cat A / Cat B fit-outs.
  • Background: Prior hands-on experience as an Interior Designer, Space Planner, or Architectural Technician is essential.
