Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager to join their team on a major Data Centre project in Northumberland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the MEP design process from pre-construction through to construction, ensuring the design is fully coordinated, compliant, buildable, and delivered in line with programme and project requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design across the project.
  • Lead design coordination between consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team.
  • Review drawings, specifications, technical submissions, and design information.
  • Ensure MEP designs are coordinated, compliant, and suitable for construction.
  • Identify and resolve design clashes, technical issues, and design risks.
  • Manage design changes, RFIs, technical queries, and approvals.
  • Monitor design deliverables against the project programme.
  • Liaise closely with construction teams to ensure design information supports site delivery.
  • Support the commissioning, testing, and handover process.
  • Maintain accurate design records and ensure project documentation is up to date.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as an MEP Design Manager, MEP Design Coordinator, or Building Services Design Manager.
  • Experience working on Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Mission Critical, or other complex MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing building services.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and specialist subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of BIM and design coordination processes.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or Engineering qualification is desirable.
