Battery Operations Engineer

TECHNE is looking for a Battery Operations Engineer

Job description

ROLE: Battery Operations Engineer

LOCATION: Oxfordshire

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid

COMPENSATION: Market Leading

TECHNE is supporting a leading battery intelligence and advanced engineering company in the search for a Battery Operations Engineer.

Most battery test roles focus on executing tests.

This one gives you ownership of how the entire testing operation runs.

You will sit between the Battery Test team, internal requestors, technical stakeholders and suppliers, owning how test activity is planned, prioritised and delivered across multiple programmes.

The role is approximately 70% operations and 30% technical, making it ideal for someone who wants to move towards project and programme leadership without stepping away from battery engineering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own test planning, scheduling and priorities across multiple battery programmes
  • Translate technical requests into clear, deliverable test activity
  • Manage competing demand across cyclers, chambers, instrumentation and engineering time
  • Coordinate test engineers, project teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Track test dates, delays, dependencies and programme status
  • Lead the move from largely manual coordination into a structured Jira-based workflow
  • Improve visibility and consistency across the full test-operations process

Relevant backgrounds include:

  • Cell testing
  • Module, pack or battery-system testing
  • Battery validation
  • Automotive electrical or electronic testing
  • Technical laboratory or test-facility environments

Hands-on test knowledge matters more than coming from one specific level of the battery system.

Why this role stands out:

  • You build the process rather than inherit one
  • You hold real ownership over scheduling and priorities
  • You stay close to the technical detail
  • The testing directly supports advanced battery intelligence products
  • There is a clear route into test programme and project leadership

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants broader ownership, more influence and a defined progression path while staying close to real battery testing.
