Indirect Tax - Director

Between £120,000 and £170,000 Per Month

Job description

Are you looking to take the lead in a growing insurance indirect tax practice where you can shape strategy, develop talented teams, and work with some of the most complex and high-profile issues in the market?

As an Indirect Tax Director, you'll play a key role in growing a well-established Financial Services tax practice, leading the delivery of complex VAT and IPT advisory projects across the insurance sector. You'll work with insurers, brokers, MGAs and other market participants, providing commercially focused advice while helping to expand the firm's market presence.

What You'll Be Doing

Drive Growth and Market Presence

You'll help develop and execute the strategy for the insurance indirect tax offering, identifying new business opportunities and strengthening the firm's profile within the insurance market. You'll contribute to thought leadership initiatives, attend industry events, and build your network across the sector.

Build and Develop Client Relationships

You'll act as a trusted adviser to key clients, supporting them on complex VAT and IPT matters. Working closely with colleagues across tax, deals, consulting and advisory teams, you'll identify opportunities to deliver broader solutions and additional value to clients.

Lead Complex Projects and Teams

You'll oversee the delivery of large-scale indirect tax engagements from initial scoping through to implementation. Alongside project leadership, you'll mentor and develop team members, helping to build a high-performing and collaborative culture.

Provide Technical Leadership

You'll advise on complex insurance indirect tax issues, review technical advice and deliver practical, commercially focused solutions. You'll also represent the firm externally through market engagement, speaking opportunities and industry events.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally bring:

  • Strong technical expertise in VAT and IPT, with experience advising insurance sector clients.
  • The ability to translate complex legislation and technical issues into clear commercial advice.
  • A track record of building relationships with senior stakeholders and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience leading complex client engagements and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

What's On Offer

In return, you'll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the growth of the practice.

The role offers:

  • Flexible and hybrid working.
  • Private medical cover.
  • Access to a virtual GP service.
  • Generous annual leave and volunteering opportunities.
  • Clear opportunities for progression and professional development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced indirect tax professional looking to take on a strategic leadership role within a growing Financial Services and Insurance tax practice.
