Job Purpose

We are seeking an Assistant Private Banker to support senior banking professionals in managing defined client portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling day-to-day client administration while delivering an exceptional level of service to a diverse client base.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, including through both in-person and online meetings.
  • Handle day-to-day banking and administrative matters, including payment processing, account opening, foreign exchange and deposit requirements, with a particular emphasis on retail and commercial clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal credit applications and the regular monitoring of existing borrowing in accordance with relevant credit policies and procedures.
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal banking systems and processes.
  • Undertake and support ad-hoc business projects as required, including involvement in new product launches.
  • Use effective questioning and listening skills to understand and establish client and prospective client needs.
  • Maintain accurate and relevant client records in line with company procedures and data protection requirements.
  • Assist with Anti-Money Laundering requirements across a variety of client types.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Credit Risk, Client Operations, Financial Crime and other departments to deliver an exceptional client experience and support wider business objectives.
  • Complete mandatory training, eLearning and other assigned development activities within required timescales.


Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Preferably educated to UK degree level or equivalent.
  • An understanding of how a bank operates and the wider commercial environment in which it operates.
  • Awareness of issues likely to affect banking clients and their businesses.
  • A strong commitment to delivering excellent client service and working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A genuine desire to develop a long-term career within a progressive private banking environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous people leadership experience would be desirable.
