Job description

We are conducting a search on behalf of an international inspection and technical services organisation for an NDT Training Manager to lead technical training, competency development, and certification compliance from their Aberdeen operation.


Role Overview:

This role is responsible for developing and managing NDT training and competency programmes across the business, ensuring employees remain technically competent, appropriately certified, and compliant with client, regulatory, ISO, and internal requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage internal and external NDT training programmes
  • Plan employee inductions, refresher training, competency assessments, and certification renewals
  • Coordinate with approved training providers, certification bodies, and internal technical specialists
  • Maintain training records, competency matrices, and certification data
  • Monitor certification validity and mandatory training expiry dates
  • Support practical competency assessment programmes
  • Review contractor qualifications and competency against client and project requirements
  • Prepare training and competency documentation for client, ISO, regulatory, and internal audits
  • Produce training KPIs, reports, and competency gap analyses
  • Work closely with Operations, Technical, Quality, HSE, and HR teams
  • Drive continuous improvement of competency frameworks and learning programmes


Qualifications & Experience:

  • ASNT Level III Certification, or equivalent, in one or more NDT methods including UT, RT, MT, PT, or VT
  • Valid certification under ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, or PCN
  • Relevant NDT Level II or III certifications
  • Minimum 10 years' experience within the NDT industry
  • Proven experience delivering technical training
  • Experience developing Written Practices, certification schemes, and competency assessment programmes
  • Experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Offshore, Power, Manufacturing, or Marine environments
  • Engineering-related Degree or Diploma preferred

  • Strong technical training, presentation, and communication capability
  • Curriculum development and technical report writing
  • Coaching, mentoring, and team development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems is advantageous
