Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water & Infrastructure


Derby or Coventry | Hybrid Working | Up to £70k + Car allowance + Benefits

I'm working with an expanding infrastructure business looking to appoint Quantity Surveyors and a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting major capital programmes across the water and wider infrastructure sectors.


These roles offer the opportunity to work across the project lifecycle, from feasibility and procurement through to contract administration, cost control and final account.


The Role:

• Support the commercial management of major infrastructure projects from feasibility through to completion

• Administer NEC3/4 ECC contracts, including Options A, C and E

• Support budget management, payment valuations and cost forecasting

• Prepare cost plans and maintain accurate commercial records

• Work closely with Project Managers on payment certification and Defined Cost

• Support procurement activities and tender evaluation

• Assist with contract administration, variations and claims

• Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities

• Support final account preparation and post-project evaluation

• Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders

• Provide commercial input into bids and business development

For the Senior QS position: take greater ownership of commercial packages and support/mentor junior QSs


What You'll Need:

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Strong practical knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts, particularly Options A, C and E

• Experience in commercial and cost management

• Knowledge of pre- and post-contract activities

• Experience with forecasting, valuations, variations and final accounts

• Experience within water, utilities, infrastructure, environment or a related sector (desirable)

• Understanding of procurement and tender processes

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

• Working towards RICS Chartership or equivalent professional qualification

• Familiarity with CDM regulations and risk management

• Valid CSCS card


For the Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Proven experience operating at Senior QS level

• Ability to take ownership of commercial packages and provide commercial advice

• Experience mentoring or supporting junior commercial professionals

• Strong client and stakeholder management experience

• Experience contributing to bids and business development
