The Role
The Senior Design Engineer will develop competitive, buildable engineering solutions from work-winning and concept design through to project completion. The role is focused on helping secure projects, improving site margins and supporting successful operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities

- Apply performance-based and observational design approaches where appropriate.
- Review and interrogate project information, resolve technical requirements and incorporate agreed inputs into the final design.
- Provide technical and design support across estimating, preconstruction and project-delivery teams.
- Deliver clear technical handovers, including anticipated risks and pre-agreed mitigation measures.
- Attend client meetings and manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.
- Support innovation and the development of new geotechnical techniques.
- Contribute to engineering KPIs, process improvement and technical benchmarking.
- Provide training, mentoring and knowledge-sharing across the engineering team.
- Gather feedback from estimating and operational teams to drive continuous improvement.
About You
- Experienced in geotechnical, foundation or related civil-engineering design.
- Able to develop commercially competitive solutions that consider efficiency, buildability and operational risk.
- Strong understanding of personal and team technical limitations, with the judgement to seek appropriate support.
- Confident presenting technical solutions to clients, consultants, site teams, supply-chain partners and internal departments.
- Agile, resilient and comfortable working in a changing project environment.
- Innovative, collaborative and willing to challenge established approaches.
- Accountable, determined and able to work with humility and sound technical judgement.
Benefits

- Salary-sacrifice pension with a minimum 5% company contribution.
- Private medical insurance, income protection and life assurance.
- Enhanced sick pay following probation.
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
- Option to purchase additional annual leave.
- Paid professional memberships.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Volunteering days.
- Ongoing professional development and international career opportunities.
Our client is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates from all backgrounds.
