Senior Facilities Manager (Interim)
Location: London
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (35 hours per week)
Salary: £70,000
We are seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager to lead facilities operations within a prestigious and complex mixed-use heritage estate in central London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on FM professional to take ownership of day-to-day operations, statutory compliance, fire safety, contractor management, and service improvement across a diverse property portfolio that includes office accommodation, event spaces, residential areas, hospitality facilities, specialist storage areas, and public-facing environments.
As an interim appointment, the role will focus on strengthening compliance governance, enhancing FM contract management, and delivering key improvement initiatives while ensuring the estate remains safe, secure, well-maintained, and operationally effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of facilities management services across the estate, ensuring high standards of performance and customer service.
- Take ownership of statutory compliance, risk management, health and safety, and fire safety arrangements.
- Develop and improve FM processes, including helpdesk operations, KPIs, SLAs, reporting frameworks, and information management systems.
- Manage operational and capital expenditure budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Lead emergency planning, business continuity, and resilience planning activities.
- Review, procure, and manage FM contracts, ensuring effective supplier performance and value for money.
- Monitor energy usage and support sustainability and environmental objectives.
- Coordinate maintenance and improvement works within a busy operational environment, balancing stakeholder needs while minimising disruption.
- Line manage Facilities Management professionals and ensure effective resourcing and operational cover.
About You
You will bring substantial experience in facilities management, ideally gained within complex, multi-use environments and heritage or listed buildings.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Significant facilities management experience (8+ years preferred).
- Experience managing in-house teams and external contractors.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and fire safety requirements.
- Experience managing operational and capital budgets.
- Proven track record in procurement, tendering, and contract management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong organisational, reporting, and project management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Fire Safety qualification.
- Professional membership of IWFM, CIOB, CIBSE, RICS, IMechE, ISEP, or similar professional body.
- Experience working within listed or heritage buildings.
- Knowledge of JCT, NEC, RIBA, or similar contract forms.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems, BIM, and AutoCAD.
