Head of IT
Location: London, UK (Hybrid - 3 days per week)
The Role
We are working with an established organisation looking for a Head of IT to lead its IT Support and Infrastructure function. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing the internal IT team and third-party technology providers while ensuring reliable, secure and efficient IT services across the organisation. You will oversee the IT roadmap, infrastructure, service delivery, cyber security, suppliers and key technology projects, while supporting continuous improvement across the IT function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the IT Support and Infrastructure team, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Manage the organisation’s Microsoft-based IT environment and infrastructure.
- Oversee cloud, network, server, endpoint and disaster recovery services.
- Manage external IT suppliers, contractors, contracts and service levels.
- Own the IT roadmap and lead major technology and service delivery projects.
- Manage IT budgets, resources and technology expenditure.
- Drive ITIL-based service management, KPIs and continuous improvement.
- Act as a senior point of escalation for IT and infrastructure issues.
- Oversee cyber security, incident response, data protection and IT security policies.
- Ensure systems remain secure, supported, appropriately licensed and compliant.
- Ensure appropriate IT support and infrastructure coverage across the organisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Head of IT, IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or similar senior IT leadership role.
- Strong experience leading an IT Support and Infrastructure team.
- Strong Microsoft technology background across the IT environment is essential.
- Experience managing Microsoft-based infrastructure, cloud services, networks, servers and endpoints.
- Strong understanding of IT service management and ITIL principles.
- Experience managing third-party IT providers, suppliers and contracts.
- Experience managing IT projects, budgets and technology roadmaps.
- Good understanding of cyber security, incident response, GDPR and data protection.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to balance strategic IT leadership with hands-on operational management.
Desirable
- Microsoft certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
- Experience overseeing disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Experience within a complex, high-service or customer-focused organisation.
