Job description
Senior Buyer – Beer, Wines & Spirits
Are you a commercially sharp Buyer with strong experience in BWS or FMCG categories? This is a great opportunity to join a fast‑growing, well‑invested wholesale business that’s scaling quickly and looking for someone who wants real ownership, pace and impact. You’ll be joining a company where decisions are quick, ideas are welcomed, and you can genuinely shape how categories perform. If you enjoy autonomy, supplier negotiation and driving commercial results, this is a role where you’ll be noticed.
The Opportunity
As Senior Buyer for Beer, Wines and Spirits, you’ll take full ownership of your licensed categories — managing supplier relationships, driving commercial performance and ensuring the right products land at the right time and at the right cost. You’ll influence everything from promotional planning and supplier investment to category strategy and annual trade activity. Working closely with Operations, Sales and Finance, you’ll help protect margins, optimise stock flow and deliver a compelling, competitive range for customers.
Responsibilities
Day‑to‑day, you’ll lead buying and trading activity, negotiate commercial terms, build productive supplier partnerships and develop promotional plans that maximise funding and ROI. You’ll stay close to market trends and competitor activity, deliver against key KPIs including sales, margin and availability, and ensure suppliers are onboarded efficiently and in line with compliance processes. You’ll also work with Operations to optimise stock levels, collaborate with Finance on cost and margin accuracy, support Sales with timely product sourcing, and maintain accurate pricing files and buying documentation — all while championing continuous improvement across buying processes.
About You
Strong buying experience within Beer, Wines and Spirits is highly desirable, though other food and drink backgrounds will be considered. You’ll bring proven commercial acumen, confident negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships. You’ll be comfortable working at pace, making decisions under pressure and juggling multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills, strong organisation, solid financial understanding and good Excel capability are essential. Above all, you’ll be proactive, motivated and keen to contribute to a growing, ambitious business.
What’s in it for you
You’ll be joining a fast‑growing organisation where commercial ownership is encouraged and high performance is recognised. Alongside a competitive salary of up to £60,000, you’ll benefit from a supportive culture, quick decision‑making and the chance to shape category strategy in a business that values fresh thinking. Your impact will be visible, and progression comes from delivering results.
What to do next
If you’re ready for a role where your decisions directly influence trading performance and profitability, please apply with an up‑to‑date CV.
