The Role
We're looking for an experienced Design Manager to join our team and play a key role in the delivery of a prestigious development in Central London.
In this role, you will take ownership of coordinating and managing all aspects of the design process from pre-construction through delivery. Acting as the key interface between consultants, subcontractors, the client and project team, you will ensure design information is coordinated, buildable, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate architectural, structural, MEP and specialist contractor design teams.
- Develop and manage design programmes, deliverables schedules and information release plans.
- Chair design coordination meetings and drive actions to completion.
- Review design information for buildability, compliance and integration with construction sequencing.
- Manage design risk, technical queries and design changes throughout delivery.
- Support procurement activities through technical review and subcontractor engagement.
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Building Safety Act requirements, CDM regulations and company quality standards.
- Champion digital engineering, BIM coordination and best practice design management.
- Provide technical support during construction and oversee project close-out documentation, including as-built information and O&M manuals.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and technically strong Design Manager who thrives in a complex construction environment.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of temporary and permanent works coordination, construction sequencing, and buildability.
- Proven ability to manage multiple design packages, stakeholders, and consultants in a fast-paced delivery environment.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety Act requirements and CDM regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a relevant professional institution would be advantageous but not critical to success.
