Description/Job Summary

The Clients & Markets Analyst supports the Firm’s business development and client relationship efforts by delivering high-quality research, analysis, and insights focused on priority clients, sectors, and regions. Working closely with the Strategic Intelligence and Client Development and Engagement (CDE) teams, this role helps identify opportunities for growth and engagement, particularly across private capital clients in the UK and Europe, and in collaboration with colleagues in the APAC region.

The successful candidate will proactively monitor market trends, analyse client and industry data, and translate intelligence into actionable recommendations to inform business planning, key client programmes, and go-to market initiatives.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Firm’s strategic clients and targets, identifying opportunities to strengthen and expand relationships.
  • Conduct client and market research to support strategic client planning, opportunity spotting, and engagement initiatives.
  • Track developments among priority clients, competitors, and market segments using public filings, financial databases, trade publications, and internal sources.
  • Prepare timely, insight-driven client briefings, sector updates, and meeting materials for partners and CDE leadership.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal dashboards and trackers capturing client activity, pitch data, and market share metrics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in New York to align global intelligence coverage and ensure consistent data standards.
  • Assist in producing reports and analysis on market themes, client engagement trends, and competitor activity relevant to key practice groups.
  • Synthesise complex data into clear narratives and recommendations for leadership presentations.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen knowledge sharing, data hygiene, and research process efficiency across the Firm.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, economics, international relations, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in research, business development, or client insights within a law firm, financial services or professional services setting.
  • Prior exposure to private equity, funds, or alternative asset management sectors.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with the ability to translate data into clear, persuasive actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with intelligence tools and databases such as PitchBook, Capital IQ, Refinitiv, and Bloomberg preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Commercially astute and intellectually curious, with an interest in legal, financial, and market developments.
  • A proactive self-starter with a strong collaborative working style and strong communication skills across teams and geographies.
  • Experience working in an international or cross-office team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint - with familiarity with automation and AI tools (ChatGPT), data visualization (Power BI, Tableau), or scripting (VBA, Python) a plus.
