Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Machinist role based in Egham. The Machinist will set up and operate manual and/or NC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include selecting appropriate tools and materials, adjusting machine settings, measuring and inspecting parts, and maintaining accurate production records. . The Machinist is expected to follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organized, and compliant workshop.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience operating manual or CNC machining equipment, including setup, adjustment, and safe operation of machines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and work instructions, with strong attention to dimensional accuracy.
- Competence in using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) and performing quality checks to maintain tight tolerances.
- Solid understanding of workshop safety practices, machine maintenance basics, and safe handling of tools and materials.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify machining issues and propose practical adjustments or improvements.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage part-time hours effectively and meet production deadlines.
- Effective communication skills .
- Previous experience in precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
