Associate/Senior Associate solicitor – Employment

We are working with a leading UK law firm on a search for an Employment Associate to join its established Reading team.


This is an excellent opportunity for a 5–8 PQE Employment lawyer with a strong mix of contentious and non-contentious experience, looking for a high-visibility role with significant Partner support and scope to develop their career.


The Opportunity


The successful Associate will advise a broad range of employers and senior executives, with exposure to:


  • Capability and conduct matters
  • Redundancy and restructuring
  • TUPE
  • Whistleblowing
  • Employment Tribunal litigation
  • Settlement negotiations
  • Trade union matters
  • Employer and HR advisory work
  • Senior executive employment matters


The Reading team has a particularly strong client base in the technology and education sectors, with opportunities to advise well-known employers and independent schools on a range of employment issues.


About You


We are keen to speak with lawyers who have:


  • 5+ years' PQE in Employment.
  • Strong contentious and non-contentious experience.
  • A proven track record advising employers and senior executives.
  • Experience handling Employment Tribunal matters.
  • Strong client management and communication skills.
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to employment advice.
  • Demonstrable business development experience and an appetite to build their own profile.


Experience advising clients in the education sector, particularly independent schools and matters involving parent complaints, disputes, regulatory issues and SEND Tribunal proceedings, would be advantageous.
