Your new company

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join its finance team on a temporary basis for up to nine months. Operating across multiple global jurisdictions, the firm is recognised for delivering exceptional legal services and maintaining high standards of financial governance and compliance. This opportunity has arisen to provide additional support during the implementation of a new financial management system, offering the successful candidate exposure to a major business transformation project within a highly regarded legal practice.

Your new role

Reporting to the Cashiers Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day cashiering function, ensuring business-as-usual operations continue seamlessly while the wider team focusses on system implementation activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing client and office account receipts and payments accurately and efficiently
  • Allocating client monies and posting transactions to the correct matters
  • Processing CHAPS, Faster Payments and international payments
  • Performing client and office bank reconciliations and investigating outstanding items
  • Monitoring client balances and ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Managing a busy shared cashiering inbox and responding to stakeholder queries
  • Supporting month-end finance processes and reporting requirements
  • Assisting with residual balance reviews and client money returns
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requests
  • Liaising with partners, fee earners and business support teams regarding financial transactions
  • Contributing to process improvements, controls and operational efficiencies

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous Legal Cashier experience within a law firm environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Experience processing client and office account transactions
  • Excellent reconciliation and payment processing skills
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
  • Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using legal finance systems such as SAP, Elite or Aderant would be advantageous
