About the Role

My client is looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to provide temporary support to their busy Accounts team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Cashier who is confident working independently and has strong knowledge of legal finance processes. The role can be carried out fully remotely or on a hybrid basis, offering flexibility depending on your circumstances.

Previous legal cashier experience is essential, as is hands-on experience using the Aderant system.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include:

  • Daily reconciliation of the firm's bank accounts.
  • Processing and allocating incoming client monies via Internet Banking.
  • Making payments from the firm's accounts by electronic payment or cheque, in accordance with internal procedures and SRA requirements.
  • Checking and processing bills.
  • Checking client balances and liaising with fee earners to ensure outstanding balances are cleared following completion.
  • Ensuring client balances are returned promptly where appropriate.
  • Processing transfers of costs and disbursements.
  • Taking card payments from clients over the telephone.
  • Supporting fee earners and secretaries with financial queries and providing guidance on finance-related matters.
  • Responding to queries via email, telephone and online meetings.
  • Identifying and reporting any breaches promptly and supporting their resolution.
  • Logging incoming cheques and ensuring postings are requested where required.
  • Providing general support to the Accounts team as required.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier – essential.
  • Hands-on experience using Aderant – essential.
  • Good knowledge of legal client accounting processes.
  • Strong understanding of client account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of SRA rules and regulations relating to client accounts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to manage workloads effectively and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm and professional approach, particularly when working under pressure.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • A proactive, flexible and adaptable approach.
