Driver Team Manager - Poole Were looking for an experienced and approachable Driver Team Manager to lead our delivery team in Poole. This hands-on role is all about supporting our team to consistently deliver a reliable, high-quality service.
Youll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the hub, typically spending your mornings offering guidance, building strong relationships, and making sure our drivers are ready to give customers the best possible experience. Youll be based at our hub in Poole, with occasional travel to other locations across the business, this may sometimes include overnight stays.
Hours: This is a permanent position (40 hours per week), usually Monday to Friday (which is inclusive of bank holidays). Start and finish times will vary depending on team needs. Our drivers start as early as 4am, so youll need to be comfortable meeting them bright and early.
Hub location: Unit J1 Romany Works, Wareham Rd, Holton Heath, Poole, Dorset BH16 6JL
Location expectations: Were committed to supporting a healthy work-life balance, so ideally, youll live within a reasonable commuting distance of the hub.
Salary: £35,355 per annum, plus an electric company car
What youll be doing Youll lead and inspire our delivery drivers as Riverfords number one ambassadors, and the friendly face of our business for most customers. Youll keep standards high and deliveries running smoothly by encouraging best practice, improving efficiency, and actively supporting your teams development.
This is a hands-on role, with over half your time spent directly with your team: on the road with drivers, attending morning briefings, and holding one-to-one reviews. Your experience in multi-drop delivery will help you confidently role-model excellent driver behaviours and provide clear, practical guidance, making sure every delivery is safe, professional, and friendly.
Skills & Experiences Manage a team of drivers, with ability to engage and communicate effectively
Appropriate health & safety requirements in a last mile distribution environment.
Safe operation and regulations for multi drop delivery operations.
Hub processes and delivery/drop processes.
Embrace Riverford culture and values.
Able to learn new systems.
Make decisions with consideration of the impact on the business, customers and the team.
Office software (i.e. Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
Riverford systems including Roots/Web-feet/BI/Rota-cloud/Fleet-check
Worked in a customer-focussed commercial environment
Preferably experience of multi drop driving operations.
