Our Client are a leading Tier One Main Contractor with offices in Central London, 2025 was a record breaking year for them and they are now looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the business. You will be working on student accommodation, residential new build and complex refurbishment projects with values ranging between £5million - £30million typically.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of projects, work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, and continue developing their commercial career within a main contractor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the subcontract procurement process, from preparing and issuing tender packages through to tender analysis, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Work closely with project teams and design consultants to ensure tender information is complete, accurate, and commercially competitive.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage and monitor project costs against agreed budgets, including preparing and maintaining cashflows and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, change orders, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Undertake site measurements from drawings and through regular site visits where required.
- Maintain accurate procurement trackers, change registers, cost reports, and commercial records.
- Attend project and commercial meetings, providing clear and accurate commercial information to support decision-making.
- Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring contractual obligations are understood and effectively administered.
- Mentor and support Assistant and Graduate Quantity Surveyors, helping to develop the wider commercial team.
About You:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, ideally a RICS-accredited degree or be working towards MRICS chartership
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with a main contractor, ideally including Design & Build projects
- Excellent numerical, analytical, negotiation and time-management skills
- Willingness to travel to sites as required
- Strong attention to detail and teamworking capability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
