Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Company
Our client is a well-established infrastructure and engineering contractor delivering a range of complex projects across regulated and private sector environments throughout the UK. Renowned for high standards of project delivery and a collaborative approach to working with clients, they continue to secure repeat business through long-term frameworks and strategic partnerships. Due to a sustained increase in workload, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a long-term freelance basis.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of multiple infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams and key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring commercial performance is maintained while supporting the successful delivery of projects.
This opportunity would suit a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or related sectors and a thorough understanding of NEC contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of projects throughout the entire lifecycle.
- Prepare and negotiate applications for payment, valuations, and final accounts.
- Administer subcontractor accounts including procurement, payments, and variations.
- Manage change control procedures and commercial risk.
- Produce accurate cost forecasts and financial reports.
- Monitor project performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure contractual compliance and robust commercial governance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Support the wider commercial team in achieving project and business objectives.
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contractor environment.
- Strong background delivering civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
- Experience managing subcontract packages and commercial reporting.
- Strong understanding of cost management, forecasting, and valuations.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent (preferred).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving license.
