Town Planner - Bedfordshire


Location: Bedfordshire


Salary: £28,000-65,000 depending on experience


Employment Type: Full-time, permanent


About the role


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Town Planner to join our growing planning team in Bedfordshire.


This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. You will work on a varied portfolio of planning projects across Bedfordshire and the wider region, providing professional planning advice to clients and helping to deliver successful development proposals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit planning applications and supporting documentation.
  • Undertake planning appraisals and provide strategic planning advice to clients.
  • Manage planning projects from initial instruction through to determination.
  • Liaise with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Research and interpret national and local planning policy.
  • Prepare planning statements, appeals and other planning documentation.
  • Monitor planning applications and respond to consultations.
  • Attend meetings, site visits and planning committees where required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.
  • Keep up to date with changes to planning legislation, policy and local development frameworks.


About You


We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in a town planning, development management or planning consultancy environment.
  • Knowledgeable about the UK planning system and relevant legislation.
  • Confident communicating with clients, planning authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail.
  • A strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Proactive, organised and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.


A relevant degree in Town Planning, Planning & Development or a related discipline is desirable.


RTPI membership or working towards chartership would also be advantageous, although applications from candidates at different stages of their planning career are welcome.
