Speech & Language Therapist

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Salary: £32,073 – £35,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Contract: Permanent, term-time only


We are recruiting for a Speech & Language Therapist to join a successful specialist school in Walsall, supporting pupils aged 7–18 with EHCPs.


The school caters primarily for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, alongside additional needs including autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and behavioural needs. Pupils are taught in small classes with support from teachers and teaching assistants.


The Role

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support pupils' communication and language development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess pupils and identify speech, language and communication needs
  • Deliver one-to-one and group therapy
  • Complete clinical reports and recommendations
  • Contribute to EHCPs and annual reviews
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals
  • Support pupils within the classroom and wider school environment


About You

  • Qualified Speech & Language Therapist with HCPC registration
  • Newly qualified candidates are welcome to apply
  • Ideally operating at Band 6 level, or an experienced Band 5
  • Previous SEN or specialist education experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong interest in working with children and young people with complex needs
  • Makaton knowledge is advantageous but not essential
  • Must hold, or be willing to obtain, appropriate DBS clearance
