Job description
Junior Buyer – Food Manufacturing
Wythenshawe (Hybrid - 2/3 days on site) | £35,000
You'll be joining a busy food manufacturing business where procurement has a genuine impact on what happens on site.
That means suppliers, pricing, ingredients, forecasts, tenders and new products — not just raising POs and updating spreadsheets.
What you'll actually be doing
Working alongside the Purchasing Manager, you'll get involved across the buying function and start building the experience you need to progress.
- Buying ingredients and materials and keeping supply moving
- Working with suppliers on pricing, availability and lead times
- Supporting tenders and wider procurement projects
- Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues
- Managing purchasing data, contracts and specifications through the MRP system
- Producing stock cover and forecasting reports
- Supporting the introduction of new ingredients and products
- Working closely with Technical, NPD, Planning and Operations
- Helping identify opportunities to improve cost, supply and efficiency
Who are they looking for?
Ideally you're a Purchasing Assistant or Procurement Assistant in Food/Beverage Manufacturing and are ready for that next step.
What matters is that you're:
- Organised and commercially curious
- Comfortable working with numbers and data
- Good with Excel and IT systems
- Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams
If you're ready to move from supporting the buying function to actually becoming a Buyer, it's worth a conversation.
