We currently have a vacancy for a Group Resource Manager. This is a remote role but will require extensive travel throughout England and Wales.
This role will be responsible for leading the Group-wide resource strategy, ensuring the business has the right people, in the right locations, at the right time to meet operational demand across the UK.
The role will provide strategic oversight of workforce capacity, agency and FTC resource, recruitment requirements and resource costs across approximately 1,450 employees, 35 depots and 2 offices.
Working closely with Operations, Recruitment, People, Finance and Commercial, the Group Resource Manager will provide clear visibility of current and future resource requirements, identify risks and opportunities, and drive effective workforce planning and utilisation across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the Group-wide resource planning and forecasting strategy.
- Develop forward-looking workforce plans aligned to operational demand, customer requirements and business growth.
- Provide clear visibility of workforce capacity, gaps, surpluses and future requirements.
- Lead scenario planning for growth, seasonal demand, contract changes and operational requirements.
- Establish a consistent approach to resource planning across all Group locations.
- Provide strategic oversight of agency labour and FTC requirements across the business.
- Monitor workforce costs against budget and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
- Ensure resource requirements are aligned with operational and financial plans.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience required:
- Significant experience in resource, workforce or capacity planning within a complex operational environment.
- Experience operating across multiple locations, teams or business units.
- Strong analytical, commercial and financial understanding.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the confidence to challenge senior leaders.
- Strong Excel, data analysis and workforce modelling capability.
- Experience developing workforce strategies, forecasts and scenario plans.
- Experience of agency/contingent labour and permanent recruitment planning.
- Highly organised, commercially minded and solutions focused.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Desirable:
- Experience within construction, highways, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience planning agency labour and/or fixed-term contract resources.
