Tax Manager or Senior Manager, Reading

Between £90,000 and £115,000 Per Month

Job description

Berkshire | Hybrid | Growing & Entrepreneurial Accountancy Firm

Are you an experienced Personal Tax professional looking for something a little different from the traditional accountancy firm?

We’re working with a growing, ambitious accountancy and advisory business to recruit a Senior Manager into its expanding Personal Tax team.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys complex advisory work and international private client matters, but also wants the autonomy and visibility that can sometimes be harder to find within a larger firm.

The client base is broad, ranging from entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses through to corporate and internationally connected clients, with the role offering exposure to increasingly sophisticated personal tax work.

The opportunity

You’ll take a senior role within the Personal Tax function, managing your own portfolio while becoming a key technical and commercial point of contact for clients.

There is a strong advisory element, including:

  • International private client tax, including individuals arriving in or leaving the UK
  • The new Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) regime
  • Statutory Residence Test and remittance basis matters
  • Temporary Repatriation Facility
  • Transfer of Assets Abroad
  • Inheritance tax planning
  • Complex CGT matters
  • Profit extraction and wider personal tax planning

You’ll also oversee the more complex compliance work, review work produced by the team and have responsibility for two direct reports, WIP, billing and process improvement.

Importantly, this isn’t a role where everything has already been built around you.

The firm is at a size and stage of growth where a Senior Manager can genuinely influence how the Personal Tax offering develops, contribute ideas and help shape processes, client service and the future direction of the team.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, you’ll be CTA qualified with significant personal/private client tax experience and comfortable dealing with complex clients.

You don’t necessarily need to be the finished article across every area of international tax, but you should have a good grounding in residence issues and an appetite to develop further technically.

This could particularly suit someone currently in a larger firm who enjoys the quality of the work but wants more autonomy, greater client exposure and a more entrepreneurial environment.

Why consider it?

You’ll be joining a business that combines big-firm technical expertise with the feel of a smaller, more agile practice. The wider tax team includes people from Big Four and Top 10 backgrounds, while the business itself is backed by a larger international group and has ambitious plans for growth.

There’s hybrid working after probation (3 days office / 2 home), flexible start times, 25 days' holiday rising with service, private medical insurance, pension, life assurance and free parking.
