We are recruiting for a Regional Payroll & HR Specialist, a varied role combining international payroll responsibility with broader UK HR support.
Around 50% of the role will focus on payroll activities across multiple countries, working closely with Spectrum Brands’ global payroll outsourcing partner. The remainder will support the UK HR team across a range of HR administration and processes.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, compliantly and on time, while supporting the smooth running of UK HR operations.
International Payroll
- Manage accurate and timely payroll processing across assigned countries, working with external providers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and audit payroll data from Workday, Excel, time & attendance and third-party payroll systems, including joiners, leavers, pay changes and variable payments.
- Review and reconcile payroll inputs and outputs, resolving discrepancies and ensuring compliance with controls and local legislation.
- Manage EMEA payroll queries and provide support on complex payroll transactions.
- Support payroll reporting, tax filings, off-cycle payments and employee payroll records.
- Maintain knowledge of country-specific legislation and build strong relationships with payroll providers, HR leaders and Country Managers.
- Support global payroll projects, system implementations and process improvements.
UK HR Support
- Provide day-to-day HR administration and support across the UK business.
- Manage the UK Time & Attendance system and support UK HRIS processes, including liaison with the US.
- Support employee lifecycle processes including absence, maternity, paternity, contracts and personnel records.
- Manage HR queries and support formal HR processes where required.
- Maintain right-to-work and sponsorship processes in line with UK legislation.
- Support wider HR activities, projects and ad hoc requirements.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional with multi-country payroll experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- 2 - 4+ years’ experience processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
- Multi-country payroll experience – essential.
- Experience with outsourced payroll providers and cloud-based payroll systems.
- Experience with HRIS systems, ideally Workday, and time & attendance systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and country-specific requirements.
- Experience in pensions administration; HR experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of SOX controls and strong Microsoft Office/Excel skills.
- Fluent English; German would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and communication skills, with a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ relevant professional experience is preferred, although significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu.
