What you’ll be doing:

As the Category Manager your key responsibilities will be ….

  • Responsibility for project-related procurement of construction services, (PV) mounting systems, civil works (e.g. Fencing, trenching, and road construction) for international PV and battery storage power plants.
  • Focus on delivering cost efficiencies, best value, and continuous improvement by developing and implementing joint category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and organisational objectives.
  • Lead and manage all procurement tasks from initiation, preparation of technical and commercial bids/RFQs, evaluation, negotiation to contract award, ensuring all processes are compliant and deliver best value.
  • Supplier Management, including strategic supplier search, selection, and development.
  • Collaborate with global procurement team and colleagues to ensure sharing of key supplier and market information.
  • Intensive cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Project Procurement Managers, Project Management and Engineering teams.
  • Maintain overview of procurement status, price levels, savings, pending negotiations and deliveries, including project reports.
  • Lead on contract negotiations in collaboration with internal stakeholders and legal department.
  • Ensure selection and negotiation of appropriate contract form and commercial terms.
  • Identify project risks and mitigation on the purchasing side.
  • Deadline tracking and coordination from start to finish of a project.
  • Support in handling logistics, supplier variations, change orders etc.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance, legislation and good practice in all purchasing activities.
  • Support on claim management and related post-sales activities.
  • Carry out and support supplier qualification process.
  • Nominated contact person in the project team for all purchasing-related topics


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of purchasing materials and services
  • Background in construction, civil or mechanical engineering
  • Track record of negotiating major EPC subcontractor or infrastructure packages (£5M–£50M+).
  • Several years of procurement experience and in-depth expertise in strategic procurement and contract management.
  • Excellent contract negotiation and tender evaluation skills (technical + commercial).
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of running end to end procurement projects using various routes to market
  • Degree in procurement, projects, engineering or relevant field
  • Experience in the renewables industry would be highly advantageous but not essential.
