Real Estate Paralegal – RLS Law
About the job
RLS is a specialist boutique commercial property firm based in Central London and ranked in the Legal 500. We act for a wide range of clients including corporate occupiers, leisure operators, retailers, housing associations, high net worth individuals, property companies, developers and property investors. We are a small and friendly team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Asset management work (drafting and dealing with licences to alter, licences to assign, licences to underlet and wayleaves)
- Help with preparing title reports and lease reports
- Acting on residential property investment purchases and sales and lease extensions
- Producing initial drafts of client reports and assisting with the preparation of documents
- Preparing SDLT calculations
- Conducting legal research as required
- Obtaining official copies and title documents from the Land Registry and other general Land Registry tasks
- Preparation of template draft transactional documents
- Preparation of engrossments and coordination of exchange and completion processes
- Setting up and managing DocuSign envelopes
- Preparing replies to enquiries – including CPSEs and residential standard form enquiries
- Attending to post completion matters including assistance with SDLT returns and Land Registry applications
- Maintaining deeds, scheduling, archiving and updating records
- Running your own debt recovery files to recover bad debts for key RLS clients and also from RLS clients who have not paid their bills
- Providing paralegal support for the property litigation team
- Other related paralegal tasks as required
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Law degree or other undergraduate degree (2.1 or first class honours )
- Exposure to Real Estate law, through degree / LPC / SQE or previous employment
- Previous paralegal work (or similar) within the Real Estate sector, ideally in a large law firm
- Experience ordering standard searches and dealing with Land Registry processes
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
