Project Manager
- Location: Scotland, United Kingdom (hybrid/site as required)
- Rate: £500 - £550 per day
- Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
- Duration: Long-term contract
Turner Lovell are recruiting an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of major substation new build, and upgrade projects for a leading global energy organisation.
This is a key delivery role with responsibility for the planning, execution and successful completion of substation projects, ensuring delivery against programme, cost, quality, commercial and technical requirements.
The successful candidate will lead cross-functional project teams, manage client and supplier relationships, coordinate engineering and procurement activities, and proactively manage project risks and opportunities.
Duties
- Take overall responsibility for the delivery of allocated substation projects, ensuring performance against cost, programme, quality and technical requirements.
- Develop and manage project execution plans, defining scope, schedules, resources, milestones and delivery strategies.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, coordinating engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities.
- Monitor project progress, costs and resources against agreed plans, identifying delays and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, variations and change throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage key client, supplier, subcontractor and internal stakeholder relationships.
- Coordinate procurement and supplier packages, monitoring performance and ensuring delivery aligns with project requirements.
- Manage contractual and commercial requirements, including cost control, forecasting and contract administration.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant health & safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Prepare regular project progress reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Manage project execution through to client acceptance, final documentation and handover.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Management within the energy or heavy engineering sectors.
- Proven experience delivering complex engineering, infrastructure or energy projects from planning through to client acceptance and handover. Experience delivering HV substation, transmission or distribution projects is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in project planning, scheduling, financial control, risk and opportunity management, contract administration and change management.
- Experience working under NEC3, NEC4 or similar contract frameworks.
- Proven experience delivering EPC projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Experience managing significant project budgets and cross-functional teams.
- Project Management qualifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner would be advantageous.
