Yard Operative / Counterbalance FLT Driver – Measham

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Yard Operative / Counterbalance FLT Driver to join our client’s team in Measham on a temporary-to-permanent basis.
This is a hands-on, physically demanding role combining Counterbalance FLT operation, waste handling and general yard/site duties.
The successful candidate will need to be physically fit, safety-conscious and confident working in an outdoor yard environment.

Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
Friday: 06:00 – 12:00
30-minute unpaid break

Pay Rate
£14.01 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a Counterbalance FLT safely and efficiently around the yard and site.
• Emptying 1100-litre waste bins into compactors.
• Moving full waste barrels onto pallets and preparing them for collection.
• Decanting waste into skips and carrying out general waste-handling duties.
• Loading waste barrels onto lorries, including a scheduled monthly collection.
• Moving IBCs containing water/oil safely around site.
• Assisting with monthly tanker collections.
• Carrying out general housekeeping and keeping the yard and site clean, tidy and organised.
• Carrying out live loads, including transferring liquid/paste denature from the skimmer room to the rear service yard using an open mini skip.
• Safely transporting materials downhill from the skimmer room to the rear service yard.
• Following all site procedures, risk assessments and health & safety requirements.
• Working safely around waste, liquids, vehicles and other site operations.
• Assisting with other general yard duties as required.

Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence/certificate and demonstrable experience.
• Previous experience in a yard, waste, industrial or warehouse environment is advantageous.
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and moving heavy/full barrels.
• Confident working outdoors and carrying out physically demanding duties.
• Comfortable handling waste materials and working around skips, compactors and IBCs.
• Confident and safety-conscious when carrying out live loading operations.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
• A flexible approach to general yard and site duties.
