The Deputy Medical Director forSafer Care will be expected to display the Trust values at all times. Workingalongside Clinical Executives and Clinical Leaders as well as patient safetyTeam they will have accountability and responsibility for providing saferservices and high-quality outcomes and experience to our service users andcarers through improved care delivery. And ensure the culture within ourservices is built upon theTrust Values. This is a senior role responsible for supporting theExecutive Medical Director.

Main duties of the job

Tenure: Three years (first year probationary)fixed term, subject to annual review. Post holder can re-apply at the end ofthe term.

Programmed Activities: 5 PAs for DMD +DCC 3 + 1 SPA (a maximum combined total 9 PAas part of the consultant contract in adult or older adult psychiatryrespectively)

TheConsultant contract will be substantive.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Medical Degree and registered on specialist register
• Current registration with the GMC or other regulatory body
• Evidence of training within Management and Systems Leadership
• Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
• Postgraduate qualifications in areas relevant to post(Example Leadership )

Experience

• Significant previous experience in a senior medical leadership role (ie Associate Medical Director)
• Working at a strategic level on a range of clinical and management issues.
• Participation and supervision of quality and service improvement initiatives
• Managing quality and assurance governance issues
• Interpreting and implementing national policy, guidance and standards within a healthcare organisation.
• Experience of use of the Mental Health Act and its governance
• Developing policy and services within a healthcare organisation.
• Leading organisational change, including internal and external consultation processes.
• Representing a healthcare organisation at external forums.
• Managing highly complex human resources and financial management issues within a healthcare setting.
• Undertaking research and development activities.
• Experience acting as a leader within a multidisciplinary team
