Were looking for a Learning Support Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist school in Basingstoke , supporting young people aged 1119 with a range of additional needs .
This is a really varied SEND environment. Pupils may have moderate or severe learning difficulties, autism, communication needs, social and emotional needs or other additional learning needs , so no two days are exactly the same.
The school has a strong focus on helping every young person become as confident, independent and prepared for adult life as possible. Learning is highly personalised, practical and adapted around the individual rather than expecting every pupil to learn in exactly the same way.
What will you actually be doing? Youll work alongside teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning and get the most out of their school day.
That could include:
Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
Helping pupils access lessons and practical activities
Supporting communication, emotional regulation and independence
Breaking learning down into manageable steps
Providing encouragement and reassurance when pupils are finding something difficult
Supporting pupils with routines and transitions
Helping young people develop confidence and life skills
Supporting positive behaviour and relationships
Working closely with teaching staff and the wider SEND team
Some pupils will need more support than others, so being patient, adaptable and comfortable adjusting your approach is really important.

We'd be interested in hearing from people with backgrounds such as:
Learning Support Assistant
Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant
Autism Support Worker
