Graduate Fire Engineer,

Job description

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you would support experienced fire engineers in delivering fire-safety solutions for new and existing buildings. You would gain experience across fire strategies, fire engineering calculations, technical reports, site inspections and specialist analysis such as CFD modelling.
The role would provide exposure to projects from initial conception through to completion, working across a range of fire-engineering and fire-safety disciplines.
Key responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of fire strategies for buildings.
Carry out fire engineering calculations and technical assessments under supervision.
Assist with means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control and structural fire protection assessments.
Produce clear and technically accurate fire engineering reports.
Review architectural and engineering drawings from a fire-safety perspective.
Assist with fire risk assessments and surveys of existing buildings.
Attend site visits and inspect passive and active fire-protection measures.
Support senior engineers with client and design-team meetings.
Develop knowledge of the Building Regulations, relevant British Standards and fire-safety guidance.
Develop skills in CFD and fire modelling where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with architects, structural engineers, M&E engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
Maintain accurate project records and complete work to agreed deadlines.
Essential requirements
A degree in Fire Engineering, or a relevant engineering degree with substantial fire-safety/fire-engineering content.
Good understanding of fundamental fire-engineering principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good attention to detail.
Genuine interest in fire safety and the built environment.
Willingness to learn and develop professional
