Job description

Barnsley Hub | Night Shift | £32,735 + Benefits
Fixed Term Contract until the end of December 2026

Step into leadership at one of the busiest times of our year.

Our Barnsley Hub is gearing up for Peak, and we're looking for experienced operational leaders to join us through this critical period.

As an Night Shift Supervisor, you'll take ownership of a key area of our night operation, leading a team of Warehouse Operatives and making sure parcels move through the hub safely, accurately and on time.

This isn't a role where you'll simply oversee a shift. You'll be visible on the floor, leading from the front, responding to changing volumes, driving performance and helping your team deliver when the operation is at its busiest.

If you've led teams within a fast-paced warehouse, distribution, parcel or logistics environment and enjoy the challenge of a high-volume operation, we'd like to hear from you.

The role at a glance

Location: Barnsley Hub
Hours: 10:00pm 6:00am
Shift: Rotating night shift
Salary: £32,735 + benefits
Contract: Fixed term until the end of December 2026

What you'll be responsible for

You'll have ownership of a designated operational zone, working closely with the Process Manager to deliver a safe, efficient and high-performing shift.

You'll:

  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of Warehouse Operatives throughout the night operation.
  • Take ownership of productivity, throughput, quality and service performance within your area.
  • Use KPIs and live operational information to understand performance and take action when things aren't on track.
  • Respond quickly to changing parcel volumes and operational priorities.
  • Drive high standards across sortation quality, scanning accuracy, parcel and load presentation and service performance.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce damages, claims and operational errors.
  • Coach and develop colleagues through regular feedback, 1-2-1s, performance conversations and team briefings.
  • Make sure operational reporting, documentation and records are accurate and completed on time.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene and operational compliance.
  • Work closely with the Process Manager and wider leadership team to keep the operation running effectively.
  • Lead from the front, creating a culture of accountability, teamwork and consistently high standards.
What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in people who have already supervised teams within warehouse, logistics, distribution, parcel, fulfilment or another fast-paced operational environment.

You'll need:

  • Previous experience leading or supervising operational teams.
  • Confidence managing people in a busy, target-driven environment.
  • Experience working with KPIs, productivity measures or operational performance data.
  • The ability to make decisions and solve problems when priorities change.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A clear focus on safety, quality and service.
  • Confidence using IT systems and completing operational reporting.
  • A hands-on leadership style someone who's comfortable being visible on the floor and leading from the front.
Why join us for Peak?

The final months of the year are some of the most important in our operation. Volumes increase, the pace steps up and strong leadership makes a genuine difference.

You'll join Barnsley Hub at the heart of that period, taking real responsibility for your operation and helping us deliver for thousands of customers every night.

If you're an experienced operational supervisor looking for your next challenge and you're ready to make an immediate impact, apply now to join our Barnsley Hub night operation.
