Role Purpose
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading Building Services Consultancy for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of building services projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction and project completion.
- Produce and review electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems, small power, standby power and renewable technologies.
- Prepare design calculations, specifications, technical reports and drawings in line with industry standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
- Attend client, design team and project meetings, providing technical expertise and building strong professional relationships.
- Manage project deliverables to ensure quality, programme and budget objectives are achieved.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates and technicians, providing technical guidance and reviewing design work.
- Ensure designs comply with current legislation, British Standards, Building Regulations and industry best practice.
- Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections as required throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, innovation and sustainable design practices across the business.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a Building Services Consultancy, delivering electrical building services designs.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems within commercial buildings and the wider built environment.
- Experience delivering projects across one or more of the following sectors: Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Residential or Mixed-Use developments.
- Proficient in industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux/Relux and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent understanding of current Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant industry guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work to programme and budget.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership through CIBSE or IET.
- Experience using BIM processes and Revit MEP.
- Knowledge of low-carbon technologies, energy-efficient building design and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Previous experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project teams.
