Our client, a well-established and highly regarded legal practice, is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their Finance team. The Opportunity
Working within the Finance Department and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and supporting the efficient running of the firm's financial operations. You will be responsible for a broad range of legal cashiering duties, helping to safeguard both the business and its clients while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and approving CHAPS and BACS payments
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Managing client and office account transfers
- Processing bills, credit notes and write-offs
- Handling daily banking of cash and cheques
- Processing card transactions and stamp duty payments
- Maintaining direct debit and standing order records
- Reconciling petty cash and credit card statements
- Processing expense claims and assisting with month-end activities
- Managing unclaimed monies ledgers
- Responding to internal and external finance queries
- Supporting compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT regulations and anti-money laundering requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and procedures
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier or within legal accounts
- A strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- At least one year's experience within the legal accounting sector
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience using legal practice management and accounting systems
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
