Our Scheduling team is at the centre of the day to day operation, responsible for coordinating operatives and resources across a large and constantly changing programme of Traffic Management works.

We are looking for someone who understands the operational side of Traffic Management and can take ownership of the scheduling function, not only managing the team, but remaining hands on and supporting the schedule when required.

This role would suit an experienced Traffic Management Scheduler, Senior Scheduler, Planning Manager or Scheduling Manager who is ready to take responsibility for a busy scheduling function and help us improve the way we plan and manage our resources as the business continues to grow.

  • Working closely with Project Managers, and Operations Management to understand upcoming requirements and priorities.
  • Ensuring appropriate coverage is maintained across the operation, including evenings, nights and weekends where required.
  • Overseeing operative availability, annual leave, sickness, overtime and agency requirements from a scheduling perspective.
  • Managing and controlling the use of agency labour where internal resources are unavailable.
  • Ensuring schedule changes, cancellations and additional requirements are communicated and recorded correctly.
  • Supporting the coordination of vehicles and other operational resources where required.
  • Ensuring scheduling records and systems remain accurate and fully up to date.
  • Reviewing how resources are being utilised and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Developing clear and consistent scheduling processes across the team.
  • Supporting, training and developing members of the Scheduling team.
  • Providing clear direction when priorities change or operational issues arise.
  • Remaining hands on and supporting day to day scheduling when workload requires it.
  • Working with the wider Operations team to continually improve planning, communication and operational delivery.

What we are looking for

For this position, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong Traffic Management scheduling or operational planning experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in Traffic Management scheduling, planning or resource coordination.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a scheduling, planning or operational team would be highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of Traffic Management operations and the practical challenges involved in delivering works.
  • Excellent organisational and forward planning skills.
  • The ability to manage a high volume, constantly changing workload.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • The confidence to challenge poor planning or unrealistic resource requirements where necessary.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Supervisors, operatives, agencies and senior management.
  • Good geographical knowledge of London and the wider road network.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong approach to maintaining accurate records.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions under operational pressure.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the scheduling function. Someone who looks ahead, identifies problems before they happen and works with the wider Operations team to find practical solutions.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • 25 days' annual leave, including 3 days allocated over the Christmas shutdown, plus Bank Holidays.
  • Company pension.
  • Free on site parking.
  • A senior role within a growing Operations team.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop an established Scheduling team.
  • Genuine scope to improve processes and influence how the scheduling function develops as the business continues to grow.
