A regulator of childcare and social services are seeking a talented Lawyer to join their Litigation and Inquiries team in London. This role is an 18 month fixed-term contract.
Role and Responsibilities
You will join a team providing legal advice supporting the organisation's response to inquests and public inquiries. You will also support on litigation matters including judicial reviews and other public law challenges.
Responsibilities include:
- Instructing external Legal Counsel as required and working collaboratively to co-ordinate and manage internal and external stakeholders so that litigation progresses efficiently and effectively.
- Providing advice and support to senior colleagues and management on how best to manage legal challenges so that sound legal advice underpins the decisions taken and that the legal implications of those actions are understood.
- Identifying and escalating litigation risks as appropriate and supporting actions to mitigate those risks, including actions at pre-litigation stage which might avert litigation.
- Providing support to other legal teams and areas of work, including advisory, education, early years, social care, enforcement and appeals matters, when business need requires this.
Candidate
As well as those with a background in litigation, inquests public inquiries and public law we are also keen to see applications from Solicitors with a background in legal aid, criminal law and mental health. Please apply if you have between 0-3 years of experience and are qualified in England and Wales as a Solicitor.
