Day Care HostCould you open your home and your heart to four older people?

Do you have a welcoming home, a kind nature and a couple of weekdays available? Perhaps you've always thought about volunteering with older people but need to earn an income too.

The Filo Project could be the perfect opportunity.

Our Hosts welcome a small group of up to four older people living with dementia into their own home and create a warm, stimulating and sociable day built around friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.

This isn't traditional day care. You'll provide enjoyable activities, good food and, most importantly, a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, respected and included.

You don't need to be a qualified carer or have years of experience. What matters most is who you are. We're looking for compassionate, understanding and reliable people who genuinely enjoy spending time with others.

You could be a great Filo Host if you: Enjoy people and love a good conversationAre patient, empathetic and able to “read” people wellRecognise and value that everyone is uniqueAre curious, open-minded and willing to learn from othersAre positive, proactive and creativeEnjoy cooking and spending time in your local communityWant your work to have a genuine purposeWhat you'll doYou'll host your group in your own home for 1–2 days a week, usually 9am–5pm. You'll collect members of your group from their homes, provide a home-cooked hot lunch, create enjoyable activities and provide a day where friendship and connection can flourish.
