Job description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides financial leadership, control, and commercial insight across NP Group, ensuring the business operates with strong governance, disciplined financial management, and high‑quality decision support.
As a core member of the Executive Leadership Team and Board, the CFO partners closely with the CEO and fellow directors to support sustainable growth, operational excellence, embedding the company values and successful transformation, including strategic leadership and technology‑enabled continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the principal financial adviser to the CEO and Board.
- Establish and maintain effective financial policies, controls and governance frameworks across the Group
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, regulatory and company secretarial requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
- Maintain a single, accurate source of financial information and reporting across the business.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management accounting, statutory reporting and Board reporting.
- Develop and monitor meaningful KPI’s covering profitability, margin & gross profit, cash flow, working capital, stock weeks and turn, debt and customer performance.
- Provide clear commercial insight, financial analysis, and performance reporting to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Partner with operational, sales, procurement, and business leaders to drive performance and profitability.
- Lead pricing, margin, and profitability analysis across customers, products, channels, and business units.
- Support key commercial decisions including investments, acquisitions, supplier negotiations, new services, and business cases.
- Ensure financial considerations are embedded in strategic and operational decision-making
- Own cash flow forecasting and working capital management across the Group.
- Optimise management of debtors, creditors, cash, inventory, and stock investment.
- Manage strong relationships with auditors, banks, lenders, insurers, tax advisers, and other professional partners.
- Evaluate major capital investments, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead funding, capital structure, and dividend policy decisions to maximise shareholder value, working capital efficiency and financial stability.
- Lead the Group’s financial risk management framework and maintain the corporate risk register, supporting the Board with risk reporting and financial impact analysis.
- Ensure effective internal controls, audit processes, and business assurance activities.
- Oversee insurance arrangements and ensure appropriate protection against commercial and operational risks.
- Support the development and execution of Group strategy through robust financial planning and investment appraisal.
- Support the Board-level and all trading companies with forecasting, budgeting, financial planning, performance and trending analysis.
- Introduce and embed activity‑based costings where appropriate.
- Oversee current and long‑term liabilities to ensure obligations are clearly reported and repayment schedules are managed to maintain liquidity and solvency .
- Monitor and influence all working capital components—such as stock values, cash, accounts receivable, and payables – to ensure the company can meet its short‑term obligations.
- Monitor and manage assets (such as inventory, receivables, and fixed assets) to ensure they are accurately recorded, appropriately valued, and efficiently utilized.
- Assist the CEO in exceeding the annual Average Return on Capital budget.
- Lead internal business control audits and commission external business controls audits annually.
- Ensure the right balance of transactional efficiency and commercial and analytical capability.
- Translate strategy into forecasts, financial plans, investment cases, measurable outcomes and tracking.
- Oversee the introduction of new technology within agreed budgets.
- Support transformation initiatives including ERP optimization, technology and AI‑enabled improvement, cost and activity‑based reviews, and process redesign.
- Support shareholder communications where required.
- Assist the businesses with regular sequential stock counting.
- Lead, develop, and structure the Group Finance function.
- Build a high‑performing team through effective leadership, succession planning, coaching, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, collaboration, resilience and continuous improvement.
- Set and uphold high standards of accuracy, discipline, and professionalism.
- Support attraction, retention, and development of finance talent.
- Maintaining your own commercial and personal development in line with the seniority of the role and the expectations of a Chief Financial Officer.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance the company’s reputation and network with potential partners.
- Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by the CEO and Managing Director to aid business and departmental success.

Candidate Profile
- Senior finance leadership experience (in a multi‑site, product‑led business preferable).
- Strong commercial finance and working capital expertise.
- Experience operating at Board level for commercial trading entity.
- Calm, credible leader with strong judgement and integrity
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA CIMA or equivalent) with minimum of 10 years PQE.
- Demonstration of continued professional development through IOD Development programme or similar is desirable but not essential.

General Information
Based in the main building of Norman Piette in Guernsey, this role has Channel Island responsibility and there is a requirement to regularly travel to Jersey, Alderney and the UK to fulfil responsibilities.
The postholder requires an appropriate Right to Work document or equivalent.
