Are you an enthusiastic Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist with S12 and AC approval looking for an opportunity to shape the future of inpatient mental health care for young people?

Austen House is a specialist CAMHS inpatient unit for young people age 12-18 with severe mental illness and detained under the Mental Health Act. There are 2 wards, Darcy ward PICU and Bennet ward LSU.

The 7 bed PICU opened in January 2026 and has been hugely successful. The team our proud of the effective, evidenced based treatment they offer, minimizing restrictive practice and keeping admissions short.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team full-time. As well as clinical responsibilities you will be involved in ongoing service development and transformation and play a key role in shaping Mental Health Services for young people in Hampshire. The medical team includes a specialty doctor, physician assistant and resident doctor and works closely with the teams on the LSU and nearby Bluebird House (South of England's medium secure unit for young people, part of the national network for forensic inpatient CAMHS). There are also good links with Serenity Path Hospital, the local GAU.
