Interim CFO - M&A Situation

Between £120,000 and £200,000 Per Month

Job description

Our client is an established and privately owned removal, storage and logistics business with a strong B2B proposition and turnover sub £50m.

The shareholders are considering a potential sale of the business. With no permanent CFO/FD in place, they require an experienced Interim CFO to prepare the business and its financial information for the sales and due diligence process.

The assignment would likely start in mid/late October and run for at least 3 months full-time.

The Interim CFO will take ownership of the financial preparation for the transaction, working closely with the shareholders, management team and advisers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Rebuilding and validating historical financial information.
  • Understanding revenue, margins, profitability, cash and the key drivers of the business.
  • Identifying gaps or potential issues ahead of due diligence.
  • Reviewing growth plans, forecasts and future revenue streams.
  • Preparing robust financial information and analysis for the due diligence process.
  • Anticipating and responding to questions from potential buyers and their advisers.
  • Managing key stakeholders and maintaining momentum through a fast-paced transaction process.

The Desired Candidate

A qualified and highly commercial CFO/FD with previous experience of preparing a business for sale and supporting a due diligence process.

Private Equity experience is particularly important,

ideally gained within a PE-backed business or through previous PE transactions, with a strong understanding of the quality and depth of financial information investors will expect.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Hands-on and comfortable rebuilding and interrogating financial information.
  • Experienced in transactions, due diligence, forecasting and financial modelling.
  • Able to quickly understand the financial story and key value drivers of a business.
  • Commercial, pragmatic and comfortable challenging assumptions.
  • An excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to operate at pace
  • Qualified accountant

Previous logistics, storage, insurance services or related sector experience would be helpful but is not essential.
