HGV Class 1 Driver

Job description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us, working out of the Morrisons RDC in Bellshill, to support our Rail Container operations, transporting shipping containers from railheads and terminals to customer sites throughout Cumbria and Scotland. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.
The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis and due to Rail timetables require a 05:00/06:00am start for Days and 17:00/18:00pm start for Nights
Pay Rates:
We have increased our pay rates , with rates now ranging from £14.60 to £18.41 per hour , depending on shift – giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.
Mon-Fri Days - £14.60 per hour
Mon-Fri Night Shift - £15.80 per hour
Saturday and Sunday Day Shift - £17.60 per hour
Saturday and Sunday Night Shift - £18.10 per hour
Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.
On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance, and £25 per night out tax-free allowance (if applicable)
Driver Responsibilities:
Load Containers out of Railheads using Skelly Trailers
Collecting and Delivering Containers to Customer sites
Supporting General Haulage operation as required
Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.
Qualifications
You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience
No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
Understand and able to comply with Driver's hours and WTD legislation.
Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
Excellent communication skills.
