Job description
A chance to move into management over the next 12 months, with proper training behind you.
A privately owned business with multiple branches and a direct line to the board.
A fast-moving business where your ideas are heard, tested and put into practice without red tape holding you back.
THE CLIENT
A business that helps tradespeople and homeowners across the west of Scotland get exactly the finished job they have in mind, with the design done in-house so customers can see the result before they commit to a single product. Tradespeople come back because the service is quick and knowledgeable, and homeowners walk in and leave with a plan they can picture.
It is privately owned and growing to a plan: branches already trading across the west of Scotland, several more due next year, and a team being built to run them. The owners are close to the business, so decisions are made quickly and a good idea doesn't get lost in layers of management. If you suggest something, it gets heard, tested and, if it works, adopted.
For you, that growth is the whole point. The current manager at this branch is moving on next year to open new sites, and the plan is for you to take over the branch you have been training in. It is a fixed plan with a manager's seat at the end of it, which is a very different proposition from a retail or counter job where the next step up depends on someone leaving.
THE ROLE
Start on the counter, and finish up running it. This is a structured development role at the Hillington branch, built to take you from trade counter sales to Branch Manager, learning alongside the manager whose branch you will inherit.
Day to day this is a trade counter first and foremost. You look after the people who walk through the door: tradespeople who know exactly what they need and want it quickly, and homeowners who need help working out what they want. You price orders, solve problems on the spot and build the kind of repeat business with local trades that keeps a branch busy.
You will also be trained in the company's in-house CAD bathroom design software, with six to eight weeks of full training, which lets customers see their finished room on screen and makes the sale a conversation rather than a push. Product knowledge is something the business teaches you, so what you bring is the ability to look after customers well.
As you grow into the job you take on more of what a manager does: running the counter, shaping how the branch trades and deciding where to put your energy to grow it. You have a direct line to the owners, who want to hear your ideas, so you are building a business with the people who own it rather than waiting for instructions from head office.
ABOUT YOU
You are probably working in a customer-facing sales job in home improvement or trade already, on a shop floor, a counter or a showroom, serving tradespeople and homeowners, and you are good at it. You are the person customers ask for by name, and you have started to feel that the job has no next step, or that the next step is years away. You want a career with a title, a team and a branch of your own at the end of it.
You are hungry, driven and likeable, someone who is easy to talk to and who builds trust quickly with trade and the public alike. You don't need bathroom experience. Appetite, attitude and a willingness to learn matter more, and if you have spent your days helping tradespeople and homeowners find what they need and get the job done, you will be at home from the first week.
THE REWARDS
Up to £32,000 basic salary, with an on-target bonus of around £5,000-£6,000 on top, and a further £100 a month when your branch hits its Google review target. Full in-house training from the start, including six to eight weeks on CAD design. A structured path to Branch Manager at Hillington, learning directly from the manager whose branch you will take over. A seat in a privately owned, growing business, with a direct line to the people who run it.
Sales Recruit UK recruits Trainee Branch Managers, Assistant Branch Managers, Trade Counter Sales Executives and Showroom Sales Advisors across the UK. If this sounds like you, get in touch for a confidential conversation.
